Un instante de la conferencia

A Linux distribution created so that any user with no previous knowledge of this system will be comfortable using it. It is said to be suitable for Widows users. As the lecturer (Luis Iván Cuende) mentioned, “Asturix aims to be a functional operating system which is easy to use, secure, fast and stable.” In Asturix, we focus on ease of use. There are tools available so that everyone will feel comfortable with Asturix even those whose experience is unfortunately limited to Windows which is used by the majority of users.”

In the lecture held on 10 March 2010 at the EUITIO Esc. Universitaria de Ingeniería Técnica. de Informática de Oviedo, University Technical Engineering School of Computer Studies in Oviedo), it became very clear that the Asturix Project is as humble as it is ambitious. Asturix Store, one of the three important projects announced in the previous official presentation of Asturix 2 is almost ready. In the lecture, the project was offered to the university community to encourage people to get involved in the promotion of today's free software. Asturix has already come a long way and now possesses an important web infrastructure. In the morning, Jos'e Emilio Labra, the Director of EUTIO commented that he considered favourably the possibility of a student doing a final-year degree project in collaboration with the Asturix Project.

The general discussion lasted longer than had been expected and some very interesting ideas were put forward, above all by de Oscar  Luis Castro Pérez, Vice-Dean of the Colegio de Ingenieros T. Informáticos de Asturias (CITIPA). Students of the EUITIO, like Óscar Tomico took part and also a lecturer, Darío Álvarez Gutiérrez participated. Luis Díaz Ordax, of the Banco Herrero installed Asturix Business 2.0, 64 bits on his pendrive. To conclude, this was another occasion to promote free software on the basis of a project now well-known outside Asturias and which is also beginning to receive greater support from within the region. We will upload one or two videos to the Community web about the event. The University of Oviedo has also included the recording of the event within the subject de web engineering.
